SPIRITED YOUNG INDIANS OF WCC

The YI club of WCC conducted a series of online webinars and workshops during the months of August and September. The club has four verticals - health, creativity and career development, road safety and projects.

On 16 August 2021, YI Club organised a fun-filled activity where the students were asked to prepare a "Tricolour Food" to resemble the Indian Flag.

For the celebration of Madras Day on 21 August, the club organised a "Namma Chennai" event where the students gathered important historical and contemporary facts about Chennai and participated in a quiz.

Under the health and safety verticals, the club organized two events, namely "Quizequence" and "Safety First Priorities Next", on 28 and 29 August respectively. The former was a quiz conducted on dental health, while the latter required students to write a report on a road accident they may have witnessed in person or in the news, and suggest precautions to prevent such an accident.

The club also conducted an interactive session on Google Meet on the topic "First Aid - The Best Aid" on September 15, which taught the students about first aid and the ways to perform it during an emergency.

For World Suicide Prevention Day on September 10, the club organised an activity called "This is not the End". It was quite a creative and sensitive task that required the students to watch a short film in which the protagonist decides to take her own life in the end; the students were asked to think of and write an alternative ending to the film, where suicide is prevented. According to the Vertical Head, Sanjana and Chairperson, Catharinal, the purpose of this activity was to motivate the students to expand their thinking and to convey the message to young people like themselves that suicide can never be an answer to life’s problems.

This year YI WCC has won the Best Self Sustaining College Award at the regional level.
