Leading students on their career path

Women’s Christian College provides valuable opportunities for students to choose their careers through placements and recruitments organised by the ‘Career Guidance Cell’. This cell helps the students to get placed in top-rated companies by training them systematically. The salary package ranges from Rs. 2L to 4L per annum. Students get placed in companies like Deloitte, Wipro, ICICI, Mphasis, Bridge Technology and Solutions and so on.

The cell comprises two staff members for each shift and two student coordinators from each department. Faculty coordinators are Ms Mercy Evangeline, Dr Esther Arulmary, Dr Carolyn Golda and Ms Hamsa. The student coordinators serve as mediators, connecting the staff and students for placements and recruitments.

The cell conducts various workshops and orientation sessions in order to equip students in soft skills, professional ethics and the ability to choose the best job according to their interests. In addition to this, students are well trained to take up aptitude tests, group discussions, and technical and HR interviews.

“The recruitments offered to students of WCC are in renowned and poised institutions and organisations. We break the myth that ‘arts and science colleges get poor placements!’ Also, students who are keen on placements leave the college with a minimum of two offer letters in their hands,” says Ms Mercy Evangeline, Asst Professor, Department of Computer Science.

“As a coordinator I see many renowned companies constantly approaching our college for placements and recruitments, and the teachers conduct webinars, workshops and orientation sessions for students to prepare them well to kickstart their careers,” says Parvathy Manoj, student coordinator of the English Department, Shift I.
