ENHANCING KNOWLEDGE DESPITE THE PANDEMIC

Women's Christian College, Chennai, continues her pursuit for knowledge by organising various webinars and conferences during the pandemic. The wide range of webinar topics provided by the different departments, enable students to learn new things despite the restrictions of the new normal.

The COVID-19 pandemic ground to a halt various activities of the world and colleges were no exception to that. But despite all hurdles, WCC successfully conducted online webinars and conferences to continue enlightening staff and students in various topics such as Health, Business and Career Building, to name a few.

The Department of English organised a webinar on "Translation In Academia: Recontouring English Literary Studies" in collaboration with the Translation Initiative of the Tamil Nadu Textbook and Educational Services Corporation, Government Of Tamil Nadu. The webinar provided various insights on translation in the fields of Eco-literature, Children's Literature, Life-narratives, Women's Perspectives, Research and Translation Studies.

The Histronomics Club of the Department of History conducted a webinar on "Career In Government Service" to help students make the best career choices in the competitive world. The Department of Home Science in accordance with the National Nutrition Week 2021, organised two webinars, "Mind Your Hunger - How To Do Mindful Eating" and "The Impact of COVID-19 on Health Systems and Nutrition."

The PG Department of International Studies organised a webinar on the topic “State Sovereignty Vs Investor Rights: Critical Reflections on Investor State Dispute Settlement” on 30 October 2021.

The Department of Commerce organised a national level webinar on "Portfolio Building." Department of Commerce (General) in association with Shankar IAS Academy organised a two-day webinar on "The Importance of Competitive Exams - A Road Map to Students' Success". A webinar titled "The Impact of Business Closures during the COVID-19 Pandemic" was organised by the Department of Commerce (Accounting and Finance). They also conducted a Student Development Program (SDP) on the topic "Business Analytics - Simplify Data to Amplify its Value" in collaboration with ICFAI Business School.

The online mode of learning is in full bloom, thanks to the pandemic, and the response of students who are benefitted by these webinars is overwhelming. The efforts of the college are to be applauded for putting together these online conferences even during this time of difficulties.
